Hearing him say what he said and the shakiness of his voice, marred with tears, Lien felt the numbness cease and the emotion flow. He choked tearfully.

James attempted to wipe some of the tears off his cheek with the bottom of his hand.
"While I fell for ya deeper and deeper with time 'cause I love ya the way you are, I developed feelings for him as well 'cause he was always so nice and attentive to me when he really didn't have to be, y'know..."

There was a long pause, and then: "I'm sorry, James. I wish I could take it back. I was lonely too... and stressed, and overworked. I'd just been keeping it all inside, I didn't want to bother you with complaining all the time, and then Alayna had her own stresses and anxieties, and... Rowle is Rowle and..."
He sighed in a way that he sounded frustrated with himself.
"It all sounds like bad excuses, I know. I can't believe I did that to you... I just..."

Maybe he should follow through with the holiday he was thinking of. It really sounded like Lien needed it, and maybe something like that was what they needed to overcome this.
