Get over it (James)

Alayna sat on the couch in the common room, still on a high after her afternoon with Lien. She wondered how long the giddy joyful feeling would last. She hoped a while. She sighed and rested back, thinking of what Sunday would bring for her. And more importantly, what she would wear. She heard the portrait door open and saw it was James. Things were a bit awkward with them right then seeing as how James had a crush on Lien, "Sup Potter."

Not feeling too good about himself, James didn't figure out how many classes he might've skipped. He knew that, eventually, he'd have to make an appearance so people would realize he was dandy. James entered the common room and suppressed a groan by making it sound like a cough. Why was it that he couldn't avoid Alayna?

"..."

Time to pretend he didn't hear her.

"We gonna do the silent game like a couple of firsties now, James?" She asked sitting up. She tightened the blanket she had around her shoulder sand frowned at him, "Are you still mad about Lien?" She asked quietly, not wanting to be over heard.

Could she not get the hint? James didn't want to be bothered. He was just going to ruminate while stress smoking while also finding productive tasks, that wasn't assignments, to do. Rubbing his temples, he loudly exhaled; he didn't want to look at her directly in the eyes.

"What do you think?"

"I think you need to relax. I don't get why you're mad at me for something he's choosing. It snot like he even knows you like him. And again, pretty sure he's straight." She looked him over and thought for a moment, "Do you like punishing yourself, James?"

"Because ye keep shovin' it in my damn face!" he burst out before cowering slightly from embarrassment. Now James was just going to end up being questioned by a fraction of their house. Chang did choose, didn't he? Why was he attracted to the unattainable..? "He doesn't know a thing, and I doubt he'd marry ye and be the father of yer children anyway. I've seen enough of my classmates cycle through relationships like it's a fad to think he's feelin' anythin' beyond lust." That was the tiny bit of hope he was holding out on. After all, there was something in the Astronomy Tower, but he might've been looking too far into a cold breeze.

Punishing himself? His eyebrows furrowed. "Yer truly a fuckin' idiot if ye think that."

Alayna scoffed as he tried to upset her. He did a bit, but she wasn't going to show him that. She just hid it in a perfected laugh, "He might not want to marry me. And that's fine. But he's certainly wanting to fuck me. In fact, he just got done doing that about an hour ago." She said, now wanting to set him off even more, "And I'd be careful with how you talk to me, Potter. My friend wants dirt on you. And I haven't said anything out of respect. Piss me off, and that respect goes away."

James looked down at her in disbelief. They... They slept together? There was no point in questioning the claim as it obvious Alayna was serious about it. He was ready to slap her, but he restrained himself as it'd be use against him and would ruin any goodwill he'd been building up with Chang. She wasn't worth using unprocessed wrath on. So, he did the sensible thing of pulling out a cigarette to stress smoke with.

"You and most of yer friends are fuckin' bastards. I don't know how your bitch ass got sorted in this house! Ye ain't a lion, yer a snake in and out." He could feel his heart pound throughout his body as he pressed the palms of his head against his ears. 'Ye only got respect for me 'cause you thought I was hot only for me to not like yer snoggin'. Unlike most blokes, I'm not charmed by good looks alone."

He needed to calm down.

Alayna took the cigarette from him and smirked as she snapped it in half, "Ah ah ah. I'm still a prefect, Potter. No smoking. Especially in the common room. Next time it'll be a detention." She didn't mind using her power over people every now and then. Alayna smiled when he called her a snake, "I have some Slytherin tendencies. But it's my determination that makes me a Gryffindor. And my confidence and will to carry things out." She rolled her eyes and gave him a look, "I don't give a fuck if you liked me kissing me or not. What matters to me is Lien does. And I'm sure he will do it alot on Sunday night. That's our date night."

"Fuckin' hell. I got a medical reason for gettin' out that cigarette: to lower my blood pressure after hearin' ye yap."

James crossed his arms feeling more pissed than anything; if she dared to bring this up, he would just have to remind her that she provoked him. It was her fault for taking advantage of his vulnerable state to be a fucking show-off just because she was able to get some of Lien over him being lustful for the first time ever. "If ye keep fuckin' braggin' in my face as if you're some perfect, divine bein', I'll make sure ye can never yap again." Where did that come from?

"Get me a healers note then I'll let you light up whenever ya want." She said in disbelief at his excuse. Wait a minute. Was he... Threatening her? She stood up, dropping the blanket to the floor and stepped up to him. She was much shorter than him, she barely reached the middle of his neck, "Are you fucking threatening me Potter? Oh this is brilliant. You just signed your own fate."

James flinched when Alayna came too close to his neck. It had dawned on him that he did, in fact, threaten her. The hell? "I dunno where that came from, but it wouldn't have happened if ye didn't decide to brag about how ye banged LIen Chang the moment I walked in." That was his rationalization as he normally wouldn't have done that.

"Whatever ye say. All it'll do is show Chang once he snaps out of his first lust is that yer a cunt he can't trust with secrets."

"I'm just trying to tell you that you're wasting your time. But you don't want to listen to that. You just want to get angry." She thought of what he said and frowned. He did have a point. "I can just tell him that you threatened me. That's not a lie. And he will have his own opinion on you." That could work.

Guess he was wasting his time, but he couldn't just get over this. He. Couldn't. Stop. Thinking. About. Chang. It was driving him insane.

"And are ye gonna give him the context for it or are ye just gonna make sure he continues to kiss yer arse? I don't think he'd appreciate you outin' anybody, especially knowin' Atticus."

"I was just sitting in the common room. I asked if you were alright. And you got angry James. I don't out people. But if you push me far enough, my morals may go right out the door." She said, not really caring anymore. She was angry now, "You could apologize, you know." She looked at him, knowing there was no way he would.

"You and I both know damn well that ye didn't ask if I was alright," he replied still extremely upset about how she kept shoving how she got Lien in his face. "Yer just tryin' to make me seem unreasonable. At least I don't go 'round plottin' schemes."

@Alayna Nott

Alayna was growing tired of this conversation, "James. Either say something I actually care about or just go the fuck away. I was in a good mood before this and you ruined it. I'd like to regain my good mood." Maybe next time she could meet Lien at Ravenclaw Tower. Well, that could be weird if she ran into Atticus

@James Potter

"Better for me to go then since ye had to brag about shaggin' like it's a locker room." This was not how he anticipated to spend part of his day. James turned to leave the tower for the gym; at least he can take his anger out through exercise. He didn't bother to say bye.
