After he was away from Alayna and went to the Hufflepuff common room, Louis called James on his crystal.

"James - I'm sorry about that earlier."

James was sitting in the tub of the master bath as his parents went out on a date night. Ah, very soothing after having to hear Alayna's yapping on the crystal. Seeing that Louis was calling, he picked it up.

"Er, it's okay."

What was he saying when he got hung up?

Oh, right.

"What the bloody hell was she doing in your dorm?"

He was quiet for a moment, trying to find the right way of saying it.

"She said she was sleeping in there because the disturbance in her dormitory was keeping her awake."

Again he paused.

"But I'm quite sure that I saw something that was a little strange... in the bathroom, before I left with her to get dinner, I saw someone else." He sounded very sombre.

"Oh, did she?"

He remained to be skeptical of her intentions; he did soften just a tiny bit for Atticus' sake, but he couldn't help but feel as if she shouldn't be taken at her word.

"Like what? A dead body?"

Was this date night of his parents' some code for a potential Hogwarts murder?

Sometimes his mind was incorrectly imaginative.

James placed his crystal on the edge of the tub and put it on speaker mode before reaching out of the tub to grab his glass of wine.

"Er, are ya sure it wasn't that rat she lurves?"

He didn't sound like he believed what he was saying at all.

"You need to talk to Lien about it. There could be a reasonable explanation but what with the bed sheets and the belt, the shoe, I don't know what to think. I'm sorry. I hope it's nothing, I really do, but I don't want you to get hurt. Sorry."

He dropped his glass onto the floor, the shatter only being lessened by the cushion of the bathroom rug.

A sniffle could be heard.

There was some rustling of the water as he moved around in the tub.

Ending the call, he immediately went to Lien's contact and called.

He better pick up.

When the call ended, he sat in the dormitory for a while before standing up and heading to the common room. He had a lot of faith that this was all a big misunderstanding. He just hoped the two of them would be okay...

He was in the boy's bathrooms, splashing his face with cold water when his crystal started buzzing. Seeing that it was James, he swallowed nervously. Ignoring it wouldn't be the best idea. He was just hoping to clear his head a little bit before talking to him about everything...

Lien answered: "Hello, James..."

He could feel a tear well up in his eye because of those three words. He just couldn't bring himself to interrogate Lien.

"I-I love you too."

James paused.

"I slept with Atticus when he came over to give me a cooking lesson... It just sorta happened tuh-too..."

Then he began to actually cry.

"And I'm so bloody upset 'bout it 'cause I love you so so much, and he's great too, and has interest in the both of us, and I'm just so bloody confused..."

He rested his chin against the palm of his hand as he looked at his crystal.

"It was so bloody lonely being without you, but I also felt guilt for being such a bloody arshole to Atticus too 'cause I was trying to protect myself and him. Well, I bloody thought I was. While I was realizing the depth of my feelings for ya, I also realized I was feeling some of the same for Atticus but different. It bloody scared me..."
