It was the warmest day of the year they'd had so far, and a lot of the students were heading outside to the grounds and lake for some much needed sunlight. Atticus had got up early and woke up his dorm mates, asking them if they wanted to go fishing. He'd managed to find an old fishing rod from the muggle studies classroom and had been reading up on the practice, now raring to go while it was still early.

After a lack of response, he'd gone to the lake by himself. Later on, after being completely unsuccessful in catching anything, he was sat by the lake flicking through a fishing book. He'd been joined by Wade who was practicing his swinging technique, and had dug up some worms in the vegetable patches. Then Lien had come along and sat by him, reading a book of his own: for once it seemed to be a fiction book, and nothing to do with studying for the exams.

"You should know the most about this Wade, you've got muggle parents. Don't they go fishing?"

"Hey Macmillan," he greeted, not taking his eyes off the water. "I'm really doing it - I'm fishing! Well, I haven't caught anything yet. But it's pretty fun just to sit here and wait..."

Kind of. Actually, he was getting rather aggitated.

"Are you seriously going to try surfing in the lake?" he asked, seeing the shine of his board in his peripherals.

Dipping his toes into the lake, he remarked, "Bro, it's easier to just summon them!"

Lien probably already told him that... "Are there even any fish on this end of the lake? What if you catch a mermaid?"

When his eyes and senses are focused on the surf, there was no need for Macmillan to worry about the ecosystem down there.

"Yeah, bro. It's easier to generate a surf when there's a natural current!"

He'd been waiting for this since the past autumn!

"One has bitten down, but I lost it. They're definitely there," he said, determined, "And it isn't about that: I want to do it the muggle way! Learn their burdens and all that..."

Something bit down on his line. Excited, he reeled it in, and managed to catch a fish the size of his finger.

"Yes!"

"Well done, that's about enough for quarter of an appetiser."

The tone of his voice matched the blandness of his expression.

"You won't disturb anything in there by surfing, will you?" he asked Macmillan.

"She's part-banshee. Well, I think she is."

She laughed.

"Well me and Marilyn were trying it out together, and then she tried summoning it over, dropped it, and et shattered! Clumsy cow. I'd saved up for that thing for months!"

His eyebrows raised in some kind of astonishment seeing the fish Atticus caught; he still thought it would be far easier and more efficient to just use magic.

"Does that fish even have meat in it, bro?"

Hearing Lien, Macmillan waved at him as he still looked at the lake's waters. "Surfers surf the ocean all the time, bro! What harm could it do to the lake?"

He chuckled slightly, afraid that Bellona would pop up at any moment with her cat.

"Is it puh-possible to ask fuh-for another one?"

He didn't want his cousin to be without that special mirror she'd been telling him about for months!

"Duh-did yuh-you see anything in it?"

Seeing that his brother was sat by the lake sheltered inside of a shield charm, Hector approached him with an inquisitive brow.

"Why on earth are you sitting there as if something is going to attack you? Are you as nervy as Tremlett now?"

"Well, this lake has a lot more that can fight you back about it. As long as its just the surface and it doesn't disturb the merpeople, though."

He smiled slightly.

"I'll have fun watching you from here," he said pointedly, indicating that he definitely won't be joining him.

Looking up from his book, Thius shook his head at Hector and let down his shield. He'd forgotten to take it off as he always managed to quickly become engrossed in what he's reading.

"You're really going to bloody compare me to Tremlett?!"

That was one of the most offensive, preposterous things he'd ever heard.

"That mudblood tried to steal my hat. I was protecting my property."

"They're a wee rarity, Lazar. There's no chance I'd get another one! At least Bolognese won't be getting it now though. I had a feeling she was going to try taking it from me."

She glowered, then sat down next to him.

"Aye, I did. But most of what we saw was adverts. Maybe it was just a beg waste of time anyway."

"You should wriggle your toes in the water, bro!" he called out to Lien, still looking towards the lake. "It's good for ya!"

"On this occasion, I certainly would," he remarked, lying a blanket on the ground and taking a seat nearby to him. "He was likely attracted to something that hideous." Taking out the paper from underneath his arm, he unfolded it and went straight to the financial section: browsing over the countless, nonsensical numbers that seemed to mean something to people like him.

"Oh... That's suh-sad..."

So the mirror wasn't that worth it then? Lazar was upset about that as he knew Thalia had been so excited and hyped about getting it from Witch Weekly for the longest time now!

"Huh-have yuh-you been studying?"

@Thalia Tremlett-Chang

"Perhaps I'd have a better time fishing by wriggling my toes than Atticus has using worms," he remarked, chuckling. "I can't believe we won't see the leaves falling here this year. It seems unimaginable. I always liked the way the willow shook them out all at once."

@Hyacinth Macmillan

"Brother, it's just a hat to protect my head from the rays. You are aware that some hats are just too formal to wear out here, aren't you?"

Other than the sun protection, Thius wondered if Bellona would like hats on him, especially in conjunction with his hair being pulled back... He stared off into the distance, smirking to himself as he fantasized about what she might be wearing today. Hm, he'd quite like to see her rump in shorts...

"Aye, I have, but I keep getting distracted..."

No wonder. The mirror was a big thing about this month: she was finally going to have her hands on it.

"It really was nice seeing Maverick say those things..."

"I don't know, bro, I'm looking forward to it being summer all year round! I won't have to get any winter clothing!"

Pulling out some wax, he moved to sit behind the board and began to prepare it for surfing.

She still couldn't believe that Lestrange bitch broke the Mirror of Desire! Didn't she realize how much that was worth?! That was a good amount of Witch Weekly prize tokens! And then she stole and broke it like it was nothing. Ugh! She just couldn't stand her and Avery. Those catty snakes!

Stepping outside in a simple blue tee and denim shorts, Marilyn walked down towards the lake until she spotted Wade. What was that on him?! It looked gross!

"Hi, Wade!" she greeted with a smile.

Lying on her towel, Jeneva put on her tanning lotion and shut her eyes as some boy band music played into her ears from her Audire.

"I don't need truth serum to admit my luh-ove to you, babyyyy!"

He turned when Marilyn said his name. She was about the only person he'd actively stop what he was doing for. She was wearing these shorts that showed off quite a bit of leg, so he glanced her over quickly.

"That Chang girl said somethin' 'bout that mirror breakin'. Jokes on the chick who did it though, 'cause she'll get bad luck."

He grinned at her.

"What're ya lookin' so grossed out for?" He asked, frowning.

Even with that nasty stuff, Wadeykins looked so hunky and dreamy! Those muscles...

"Breaking mirrors cause bad luck?" Marilyn chuckled as she tied her hair back into a ponytail; the slight breeze was making it hard to deal with.

Ha! Well deserved for Lestrange and Avery! They should've known that Thalia earned that mirror fair and square.

"You got something on your..." She hovered her hands all around her head and upper body to show the general area of the grossness.

"I-I duh-don't know... Cassie muh-maybe?"

Were he and Cassie dating? He had no idea, actually... What if it showed Layla? He wouldn't mind that; like Cassie, she was always really nice. It's been a while since they pretended to be rugs together! There was no need to study as a rug!

His cheeks turned a light scarlet as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
