James found himself in Knockturn Alley as a way to pass time before returning home from last minute Christmas shopping; he felt like treating himself to something from Borgin and Burkes. His main concern was if he could smuggle something from here into his room without getting caught. Looking around, he went to a shelf trying to figure out what might catch his eye.

Atticus had been sent by his grand father to get something for him for christmas from Borgin And Burkes. He sighed as he entered the shop and began to look around. There were a few items that might catch Grandfather Notts eye. He picked up a Hand of Glory and looked it over a few times before deciding to just buy that and get it over with. He looked toward the door when he heard it open and was surprised to see James Potter walk in. he smirked and walked over to him "Well well well. What have we here? Son of the Chosen one in a dark arts shop? The prophet would have a field day with this one, Potter."

Hearing a familiar voice, James turned to face him. "Oh, hi, Atticus," He raised an eyebrow hearing the other's comment. "Oh, how dad would kill me if he knew... Wouldn't it be fun to know that we're housemates now? I managed to get re-sorted, and it placed me into Slytherin. Who would've thought?"

Atticus didnt believe him when he said he had been resroted. A sneer grew on his face and he glared at the boy "Yeah right. You would never make it as a Slytherin. We would eat you alive, Little Lion." He said laughing a bit "If youre a Slytherin now, then prove it, yeah?"

"I actually have my robe on me. I need to get it repaired as a few stitches had gone undone from use," James responded pulling it out from he bottomless bag he had on him to hold last minute gifts. "Does it not look like the Slytherin crest to you?"

Atticus looked at the crest on the boys robe before going wide eyed "Who'd you steal it from, potter?" He asked grabbing the boy by the collar of his shirt and pinning him to the near by wall "Be happy it wasnt them who found you and that it was me. because if you steal from a Slytherin you repay that act with your fucking life, Little Lion."

What would it even take for the Nott boy to believe him? "if you look on the tag that was sewed in, you can see it has my initials on it. JSP. The tag was always there so that it would be returned to me if it went missing."

Atticus glared at him before his face softened a bit and he released James "Sorry mate." He said brushing himself off "Im protective of my house. Guess that means Ive gotta be protective of you as well." He said crossing his arms over his chest

James looked at the other surprised. That was quite a 180... "Erm, it's fine, don't worry about it," he replied unsure of what to make of the sudden change in Atticus' attitude. "So, uh, what brings you here?"

"Picking out a christmas present for my grandfather. He has a thing for the dark arts. pretty sure he gets off on it." He said with a low chuckle "How about you? SInce daddy doesnt know youre here I guess its not christmas shopping for the family?" He said running a hand through his dark black hair

"Trying to treat myself something. Sorta been dabbling into the dark arts myself," James answered. "I gave Azazel his gift before leaving for break so... Actually, yeah, but this is just a stop they don't know of. I might've told my sister to cover for me..."

Atticus smirked "SNeaky one, eh Potter? Its cool your sister is supportive of you. Ive got that too. Then again, I shared a womb with mine." He said laughing a bit "Alayna is great." He said looking around some more "I may get myself something too. I hear they sell black quills. Im sure your dad can tell you all about those." He said not trying to be snarky but it was just the way it was coming out

"Erm, yeah, I guess..." James shrugged as he resumed looking at the items on the shelf. "Trust me, I've heard a lot. He is an auror after all, he hears about many of those kind of cases."

tticus raised an eyebrow "No not cases mate. Hes had one used on him himself. When he was about our age. At least thats what my father said. my father heard rumors around the castle that Potter mouthed off to that Umbrdige bitch in their 5th year and she gave him detention and made him write "I must not tell lies" With a black quill and it imprinted on the back of his hand"

His eyes widened hearing what Atticus was saying. "I guess that explains why dad doesn't like talking about Umbridge. He never told us about this stuff. He's more focused on stuff going on in the present day such as my dating life..." James shook his head sighing. "Priorities."

Atticus chuckled and nodded "Yeah arent all parents. If my dad knew I had even the slightest interest in anyone that wasnt female... I dont want to see that." He said without thinking before coughing a bit "Not that I am."

James raised an eyebrow as he listened to what Atticus was saying. That comment had honestly come out of nowhere, so he found that to be odd. "If you say so," he replied opting to not dig into the other's love life.

Atticus gave a light sigh of relief. He was happy that James didnt ask any questions about his slight slip up. He grabbed a few potions and smirked as he looked over the name "Draught of living death. Love this stuff. my dads teaching me to brew it at home."

"Hmm..." James found himself still looking all over the shelf trying to find something to buy. "Is there anything you recommend?" he asked briefly glancing down at the orher's stash of potions.

He thought for a moment before grabbing a near by vial filled with a black potion that had a sort of sparkle to it "This is called The Drink of Despair. Its bloody awful for whoever drinks it. So you better damn well not use it on me, Potter. This potions is basically a liquid Dementor. It makes you experience horrible things, dehydration and makes the dirnker beg for death. Its wicked."

He looked at the potion vial that Atticus was holding with curiosity. "That's quite interesting... I wonder why the Dark Arts books are restricted. Thinking from the light side perspective, I think it'd be important to know the enemy to be able to fight them otherwise it'll just be like bringing a knife to a gun fight."

"Either way its a fight. But whats a gun?" He asked. Theo was a pureblood so he didnt really understand many muggle sayings. He blushed a bit feeling stupid for not knowing what it was. "But I get your point."

"Muggle weapons that are rather lethal using bullets. They tend to be popular for hunting and self defense," James replied. "At least you somewhat get the concept."

Atticus nodded "Muggles are wierd as shit." He said as she continued to explore the store "What about a vanishing cabinet. My Uncle Draco dabbled with one in his school years."

He shrugged and said, "I'm sure they'd find us weird too if they weren't so insistent on witch hunts." James thought about the Vanishing Cabinet. "I'm hoping to find something with more ease in terms of sneaking in..."
