He still couldn't believe that he was in his final year at Hogwarts! Cernunnos had spent almost the entirety of the summer holiday catching up and spending time with his muggle friends as he couldn't be on his phone as much due to NEWTS prep. Ugh, NEWTS! He'd much rather be in the studio as Kylie Minogue held the producers hostage until they made a bop, but he couldn't be so lucky!

As usual, Cernunnos was walking down the carriage finding a compartment to hang in as he loudly blasted music through his phone. Hopefully nobody would try to spoil his fun like previous years!

"Silencio."

Finding the culprit after exiting his and Frederick's compartment was very easy. The boy had been walking towards Leythan with the sound instrument inside his hands, seemingly preoccupied by the stark glare it was giving off. He hadn't the slightest idea what the instrument was: all he was concerned about was its current state, screaming and wailing through the train carriage.

"That will be quite enough of that," he griped testily, crossing his arms over his chest before the youth. "Knowing that you are answering to your new Professor - I, Professor Selwyn - you should answer me at once. Should you be allowed to keep that thing in your possession, when you have so clearly disobeyed the rules by having it?"

Suddenly his music stopped, and Cernunnos wondered if his hacks to bypass the magical incompatibility were wearing off. He shook his phone around and began getting into the volume settings until he looked up and saw an intimidating man in front of him.

He was sort of sexy. Cernunnos was wanting to know where he got his hair done!

"Disobeyed what rules, sir~?"

Voclain didn't mind him having a smartphone at all.

"That noise that is emanating from your instrument there - disturbing myself and my new companion, as well as all the other passengers on board this train. If you did not know the rule of behaving sensibly on the Hogwarts Express; keeping sound levels to a minimum and within your own compartment; then you should at least know the common courtesy."

Riddle was right: the state of the school nowadays needed to be addressed. Teenagers thinking they could do anything they liked, whenever they liked, wherever they liked.

"What is that blasted thing anyway?" he demanded impatiently, stepping forward and outstretching his hand, palm-side up. "It doesn't look like something you should be in possession of, let alone its horrific screeching. Give it to me."

"I was only blessing my classmates' ears with a bop from Miss Katy Perry herself! 'Never Really Over' should've topped the charts~!"

Cernunnos giggled, brushing his side fringe away from his eye ogling at the new professor. Wait - he was a Selwyn?!

Grimacing, he had a delayed reaction of apprehension now that his brain had processed that new nugget of knowledge.

"It's a smartphone! My dad paid good money on it!"

This boy was trying to flirt his way out of trouble. Would that be a common tactic these disobedient students were going to try? He supposed he was going to see every tactic possible: flirting, sucking up, arguing back, temper tantrums - the lot.

"A smart... phone?" he repeated, glowering at it, "Aren't phones what muggles use to talk to one another? Why do you need such a thing at school where it would merely become a paperweight?"

His eyes lowered beneath his brow.

"And I thought I told you to hand it to me."

He twitched his fingers pointedly.

"My phone actually works with magic, sir! It took a lot of experimenting and charms, but it lets my muggle friends know I'm not dead~!"

Cernunnos held onto the smartphone stubbornly. There was no way he was going to have his muggle friends receive letters like it's the 1700s!

His eyes widened slightly. A muggle device working at Hogwarts?!

He took out his wand from beneath his cloak, and pointed it at the phone.

"Accio Smartphone."

That was the first time he'd ever uttered that incantation before, and he hoped it would be the last. Talking to my muggle friends, indeed, thought Leythan bitterly.

Feeling his phone escape from his hand, Cernunnos whimpered. How was he supposed to listen to his pop girls now?! It wasn't like he used CDs because he had streaming to fulfill his music-listening needs!

"Mine's the only one that works, sir~!"

As if that'd do anything to let him get it back.

Leythan was ignoring him. He was studying the phone - which resembled some sort of rectangular mirror without a handle - by turning it over and holding it before his eyes. The front had turned blank, no longer illuminated as it had been before. Leythan didn't know the meaning of that, but he'd heard enough to be assured of its confiscation.

"I will confiscate this and address the Headmaster," he informed the boy, "If you had indeed enchanted this instrument into doing the things it does, you could be in a lot more trouble. It's the sort of thing the Misuse of Muggle Artefacts Office would be horrified to know exists, and at Hogwarts, in the possession of a student."

He paused there. The boy looked as though he might cry.

What a shame.

"We shall ensure it is fit to be returned, and only then you will get it back."

He tucked the phone into his trouser pocket. "What is your name?"

Was he being threatened with Ministry action?!

Cernunnos suddenly had fear in his eyes; how was he supposed to explain to his Twitter mutuals that he was in jail because of having a phone on school property? Nobody would believe him, and he couldn't mention the why.

"Cernu..."

This could not be a good sign on how his final year at Hogwarts would go!

"And family name?" he asked impatiently, restraining himself from rolling his eyes.

@Cernunnos Largo

"Mr Largo, when a Professor asks you to hand something to them, you must do it without hesitance. Indeed, if we were at Hogwarts and term had officially begun, I would have docked points for your refusal. You have been spared this time. I shan't overlook it a second time."

Feeling he had made himself perfectly clear, Leythan turned from Cernu Largo and pranced back down the corridor; his hair tumbling gracefully back over his shoulders and his cloak swirling at his step. Hopefully that would be the last time he'd have to deal with a student during the course of the journey. Frederick, as another adult, was far better company.

Saddened by having his phone confiscated when he wasn't even sure if the train had left yet, Cernunnos turned the other direction and began heading down the aisle to get into the next train car. He was going to avoid this part of the train for the remainder of the day!
