- Saburo and his siblings Sakura and Jiro have moved to England following the wedding of Jiro to a British woman and Sakura's engagement to a British man. Saburo, as the youngest unmarried male in their family, is accompanying Sakura at Hogwarts school to ensure she has a companion during her time there. All together there are five siblings, but two are still overseas in Japan.
- The Tokugawa clan are a noble Japanese wizarding family that stems back centuries. They follow very strict, traditional practices and are usually schooled outside of an institution. As a result, they have very unique practices of magic and are very sheltered.
- Saburo has an adventurous and ever-curious spirit. He is probably one of the most open minded of his siblings, but there are still a lot of things about the Western world which will shock and (likely) offend him. He values honour above anything else, and is very devoted to staying within the lines of his family's code.
