after dark (emery)

It was nearing the end of the night and most students had gone up to their dormitories, leaving Ruggiero sat in the common room practically by himself. He hadn't seen Emerald since earlier, when everything had happened between her and that asswipe she was supposedly dating. She'd probably gone to bed. He didn't usually stay up this late, but he didn't feel like going to sleep quite yet. He was still trying to make sense of everything that went on.

Emery was in awe over how Ryker acted and was immediately regretting her decision, but she did love him. Struggling sleeping she walked down to the common room and spotted Rudi. “Hey I’m sorry for how Ryker acted, and questioning what I even see in that asswipe.” she said with a little sigh as she sat by Rudi.

He looked up as Emerald walked in, wearing a lop-sided smile as she crossed the room over to him.

"Ain't nothin' to apologise for. And ya did it five times already."

His smile widened.

"But ya so see somethin' in him. Ya both have history, right?"

Emery still felt shit for how Ryker acted and felt responsible for it.

“I know, but it was completely uncalled for and the fact he excused me of dating my sister’s boyfriend. My sister is in love with him and she knew I was with Jovian and didn’t care.” she said giving him a sigh.

This was terrible.

“Yes we do, and we had lost our virginity to each other. The only other guy who had my heart like that was Faolan.” she said saying these name without realizing that Rudi had no clue who they were.

From the sounds of things, this Jovian was the baby Daddy. Also he was her sister's fiance. He didn't know how old her sister was, but she couldn't have been that old. Maybe she just rushed into some engagement without really thinking. If she was related to Emerald, it seemed like they were all pretty impulsive.

"But ya know an ass like him ain't gonna give you any love. Me and the boys can't stand swine like him."

That's why he wanted to punch him continuously.

Emery knew a lot of people at Ilvermorny had no clue what happened, and we’re starting to make their own assumptions, and it was pissing her off. She didn’t ask for two guys to fall for her.

“Yeah, but he’s making comments about things he has no knowledge of.” she said with a sigh. “My sister was put in an arranged marriage, and she didn’t love Jovian. It’s why she started dating Louis, and Jovian and I had our own thing.” she said trying to fight back her anger.

Emery watched him for a moment, “What do you mean by that?” she said with a bit of a raised eyebrow. She didn’t know what Ryker felt towards her, and it felt like he had felt nothing towards her. Or got super jealous she spent time with others.

Rudi shrugged.

"So this Jovian... pussy name by the way... Is your baby Daddy?"

Emery gave Rudi a nod, “He is kind of punchable and don’t ever tell him I said this I enjoyed fucking you more than him.” she said giving Rudi a playful nudge.

She liked Rudi, because he seemed like a guy who respected girls. She liked the sex she had with Ryker, and it was a bit of addiction if she was honest.

“Yes and we still write, but he didn’t want to be apart the baby’s life.” she said giving him a sigh since she felt if he was raised better he’d be a good father. “It’s fine though, and yeah I’ve been through a lot. And everyone thinks I have nothing to complain about, but I’ve always felt like I wasn’t wanted, and I suppose it’s why I fuck a lot of guys.” she spoke as she looked back on her life and the choices she made.

"Good to know," he said, smirking, but somehow knew she wasn't being honest there.

"That sucks. A lotta fellas just can't handle the idea of bein' tied down." She probably already knew that, from the sounds of things. "And yeah, I get it. Bein' a Cartwright comes with a lotta pressure. My pops is kinda known, but a lotta us 'Mericans don't give two shits about Quidditch. So growin' up, there wasn' that much cover on us. Compared to you - can't open The NY Ghost without seein' one of ya names..."

He grinned at her.

"So yeah, cut yaself some slack for feelin' that way."
