name the name to blame (mackenzie)

Following the events that had happened at the Nott house, Alayna was coming to stay after her brother was discharged from St Mungo's. She was going to arrive that afternoon after the Ministry party the previous evening, but before that Ptolemy was getting some last minute things to make her feel welcome. Her favourite chocolates, a nice silk robe for her to wear when she was lounging around, some nice, relaxing aromatherapy things for baths.

Unfortunately their Mother forced Ptolemy to take his younger brother to Horizont to get his hair cut, so now he was waiting outside the barber shop wondering how much longer he was going to be. He still wanted to get everything set up for her arrival, and was beginning to feel very impatient.

Mackenzie was walking down the cobblestone pavement of Horizont Alley after leaving the apothecary. She had plans to grab a butter beer then go home. But then, she saw Ptolemy and a frown formed across her face. She normally adored Rowle, but he had been the cause of a few problems lately. The main one being her best friends fighting. She walked over to him, a sense of purpose and anger behind her steps, "Rowle."

He turned at the sound of a voice, and was glad to see it was just Mackenzie. He started smiling at her, but it soon vanished when he noted her tone and mannerisms were quite different to the way she usually greeted him. His expression soon turned into a frown.

"What's up with that tone?"

"What's up with you not putting an end to this bullshit with Alayna and Carina?" She asked when he asked about the tone she was using, "Do you know how hard it is balancing them at school and on break when they barely want to be in the same room together?" She had been struggling trying to be there for both of her friends, but it was hard.

@Ptolemy Rowle

He raised his brow.

"How does their newfound dislike of one another have anything to do with me?" he asked impatiently, feeling rather sour towards Carina as of late. "Carina has always been jealous of Alayna through the years, you can tell that. Perhaps the feeling has just turned into resentment now. She's fed up of being in second place."

Ptolemy folded his arms across his chest loosely, standing tall to Mackenzie and looking down at her.

"Alayna has more pressing matters on her hands than dealing with her cousin's petty bitterness, though."

"Because Carina liked you! And Alayna knew that but she didn't care. So Carina feels betrayed by her best friend." God, boys were so stupid sometimes. She shook her head and laughed at his statement of Carina being jealous, "You have no idea everything Carina does for her. She's so selfless when it comes to Alayna it's borderline pathetic." She disliked when he used his height to his advantage. She hated feeling so small, "And you don't think she could use her best friend during all of this? You may be her boyfriend, but you can't fix this. You're not qualified. She needs her best friend."

@Ptolemy Rowle

"Then why don't we just let her be pathetic? We all know that without Alayna, she's nothing. She won't be able to stand on her own two feet. One way or another, she is going to come back - grovelling."

Ptolemy laughed derisively, then looked back at Mackenzie.

"You're her friend too. She has you," he speculated, "I just don't know what you expect me to do about it. Carina seems as stubborn as Alayna is lately. I've tried saying to Carina that she's being stupid, but she won't listen to me."

Mackenzie didn't like the way Ptolemy was talking about Carina. She clenched her jaw and glared at him, "Watch your mouth, Rowle. You may be alayna's boyfriend and my friend, but I'll still put you in check." That was the only warning she would give him. "I know she has me. But I don't think that enough. And I expect you to act like someone who cares about both of them." She sighed and leaned back against the brick wall, "They're both being stupid."
