Jed had gotten home late from work and had gotten some grave news at work, and that included a letter from his affair in which he had over sixteen years ago when he had been traveling the world, and he knew if Tabby knew about the entire thing she'd be heartbroken, and he had no intentions of telling her.

They had other dire matters to talk about and that included his the engagement of Hazel and Jovian Medina, which he'd heard from various sources had not been working out, and in fairness, he didn't exactly agree with his daughter marrying someone like Jovian Medina after all, but he knew Tabby liked to do her own thing.

He had poured a glass of whiskey and took sips of his drink. He hoped his wife would come soon, and they'd be able to discuss the matter, and that she didn't find any suspicious letters.

Tabitha was in the master bath reapplying her makeup; she had to look perfect no matter what. She had been awaiting her husband's return from a long day at work. For the amount of Ministry connections they had, she was infuriated by how little their profile had expanded since emigrating to England. She was putting on earrings when the wards alerted her that someone had apparated into the mansion; that had to be Jedidiah!

Once she felt fine with her appearance, Tabitha rushed down to see him.

"You're late! You were supposed to be here hours ago!"

Jed knew that he'd been home late from work, but he couldn't help that they'd had to do a lot of overtime. "I apologize, but you know the Ministry tends to keep us super busy." he sighed. Taking a sip of his drink, he looked at Tabby, "You look beautiful tonight as you always do." he said as he walked over and kissed her cheek. "Please forgive me, because you know this job helps keep this family afloat," he spoke with a sigh.

He knew his wife could get a little out of hand at times.

The Ministry always having the audacity to disrupt her plans. They needed to keep to schedule instead of making her husband be deprived of time with her!

"I know," she whispered matter-of-factly; Tabitha always had to keep up her appearance no matter when or where. How disgusting would it be if she allowed herself to resemble a hag?! Yuck!

Afloat? It did socially by helping them make connections within the established social order. Monetarily? Only to an extent. "I know, I know. What happened at work that kept you away?"
