This wasn't Lien's scene. He wasn't into social functions, nor was he into things like dancing. When he had learnt of the dance, however, he realised that Alayna was probably expecting to go. He could have suggested that she'd gone with friends and used the time to study quietly in the empty common room, but he also didn't like the idea of those particular friends getting too friendly. So, he'd asked her. And there they were.

Where was Alayna anyway? He'd been at the thing for a while now, following Voclain's announcement about the Quidditch game, and still hadn't seen her. That put him in a very grumpy mood. Perhaps he was supposed to meet her somewhere before entering? He didn't know. These things were very alien to him. He just hoped she'd appear soon so that the evening could go by quickly, and he could get back to his work.

"I guess so." She stood on her toes and kissed his cheek. She was actually happy. Not the fake happy she put on sometimes for people. She took his hand and nodded, "Yeah I'm thirsty." She looked over to the drink table and saw Carina talking to... Oh shit. This was going to be interesting, "Do you know that girl talking to Rina?" She asked, looking up at Lien.

He gazed disinterestedly at Carina and the girl she was with.

"No, I have no idea who she is. Why?"

He filled two cups for them at the refreshment table, thinking something smelt off about them. It could have just been a strange mixture of fruit, but smelling it really knocked his socks off.

Handing one to Alayna, he then saw that Carina was dancing with that girl. Like... As a couple. Lien blushed, and almost spilt his drink. "Er... so she's... er yeah..." That.

No clue. But I definitely want to find out if she's cozying up to Rina." She feigned having no knowledge of who perdita was,
of course she knew. She took the cup from him and sipped it. The smell and taste of vodka punched her in the face and she grimaced a bit, "Woah. Ok then." She said looking down at the cup, "Looks like Harrington went a little heavy this year." She said taking another sip, now that she was prepared, "This is definitely going to be talked about tonight." Her eyes wide as dinner saucers.

"Ah... so there's alcohol in this."

Lien sighed.

"Let's just say we never noticed." He didn't feel like having to be a Prefect and deal with punch spikers. The alcohol might make he and Alayna relax a little anyway.

"Er... Alayna," he said pointedly, clearing his throat. He had been trying not to do exactly she was doing: stare at them. It made him feel... something. "We probably shouldn't stare at them..."

His face was bright red as he saw them canoodling. Other boys were smirking and nudging their friends too. Oh Merlin - was he really one of those? It was nice, though...

Now he was staring too.

"Thank god. I'm not patrolling tonight. I don't want to have to be a buzz kill." She said sipping the cup again. She was definitely going to drink it still. She looked over at him when he cleared his throat, "Yeah I guess you're right." She was gonna kill Rowle. He better not be fucking with Carinas head as Perdita. She noticed him staring and snapped her fingers in front of his nose, "What was that about not staring?" She asked with a hand on her hip

Lien blinked as fingers were snapped in front of him.

"What? Er... Sorry..."

He tore his eyes away and took a big glug of his alcohol-laced drink. He almost gagged.

"You know, your brother worries me a little," Lien admitted, changing the subject as he saw Atticus looking very nervous. "He can't wait until the elves clean our dormitory, and leaves everything in exactly the same place. I hear him cleaning around my bed when I'm still asleep..."

Alayna shook her head and cupped his cheeks and kissed him, "Were you feeling left out?" She said, moving him with her pout. But it was all in fun. "Atti? How can Artie worry you? He's harmless." Then he mentioned the obsessive cleaning thing and frowned, "I think it had something to do with what happened when Theodore sent him away. He wants like it before " her voice darkening a bit as she thought of how her brother had changed.

He was a bit distracted by her kissing him. What were they talking about again? The drink was making him feel a little giddy...

"I can't believe your own Father would do that. He must feel like something is out of his control, if he is so extreme when it comes to controlling his children's lives..."

Alayna had never really talked about her Dad to him before.

Alayna pressed her thigh against his as they kissed, just enjoying the moment. The drink was definitely helping her out a bit. "Theodore is a dictator. It's his way or no way in our family. Im positive he hits my mother when she speaks back to him. I know he hit Atticus. Atticus got the most of it because it kept the heat off of me." She didn't like speaking about him, but she knew it would have to happen eventually, "I just want to finish school so I can pick up and leave that prison forever."

"Oh... I didn't realise things at home were so tough."

It made a little more sense to him that Atticus could be mixed up. Sometimes he seemed perfectly normal, and then in other instances he was frantically stressing over what Lien perceived to be very trivial things.

"It probably doesn't help him that I'm so messy. Well." He cleared his throat. "I just don't have time to go picking up after myself all the time. I have other priorities."

He wore a chagrined smile. "Perhaps you could try and make excuses for staying at Hogwarts during the holidays. I don't really like the idea of you being around someone like that..." Who would?

"There's alot about me that people don't realize." Very few people knew what she tried to do after Atticus was sent away. The only people that did were her parents, Carina, and Ptolemy. She shook her head to keep the memory from fully forming in her head. Atticus was home now and that's what mattered to her. She gave him a playful shove, "Don't send my brother into a panic attack. Clean up your messes." She stuck her tongue out and winked at him before laughing. She looked at him, a look of adoration in her eye. He really cared about her, "I can always go with Rina. I haven't gone home for a winter holiday since 4th year." She used to go back and forth between Rina and Ptolemy's. But she couldn't do that now. lien would NOT be ok with that.

He smiled, enjoying the playful push to the chest. She was tiny, so it never made much of an impact. As a boy who wasn't as tall as some of the others, it felt nice to have a notable height difference between them. It was just... nice.

"That would be for the best," he sighed, putting down his empty cup.

Why was the music sounding better now? Come to think of it - he hadn't really kissed Alayna for a while. The alcohol may have upped his impulsivity, because he was taking her by the waist and pulling her to him. He kissed her feverishly on the lips, before drawing back, looking a little flushed.

"I had to do that. You look incredible, by the way."

Alayna nodded on agreement, "Maybe I could come see you as well. We could spend a day together or something." It would be nice to see him over the break when the time came. She knew it would be a bit of a long one without him. Suddenly, his hands were on her waist and she was pressed against his body. She slithered her arms around his waist, holding him, as he kissed her. She let a soft moan out against his lips and smiled, "You can do that whenever you want. I won't argue."

Now that he was beginning to feel as though he could enjoy himself there, Lien was smiling at her until his cheeks hurt. He thought of how proud he was to be her boyfriend, and now others would see him in a different light. Maybe other boys would nod to him in the corridors...

... that drink had gone straight to his head. He took Alayna to the table, and poured out another for the two of them.

"If I drink a lot of this, will I feel unwell in the morning?" he asked her, taking a sip regardless.

"Yes." She said honestly as she took her second cup and sipped at it, "But lucky for you, I know how to brew. Hang over potion. So I will take care of you."she said, reaching out to stroke his hair from his face and readjust his glasses. They had gotten messed up while they kissed, "You know. I haven't been genuinely happy in a long time. Only when I saw my brother had come home. But right now, I'm actually really fucking happy." She looked up at him with a smile, "So thank you."

Lien stared at her as her fingers tickled through his hair. Everything that was good he was feeling more, and everything that was negative - he was numb to. This must have been the pleasure of drinking. She turned blurry as she briefly removed his glasses, and he was still frozen on the spot by the time they were replaced. He swallowed a lump in his throat.

"You'll... take care of me?"

Wow. Why was that so arousing? Perhaps she could dress up for him again. This time? A short, tight little healer's robe...

He tried to focus on what she was saying now.

"Oh, er, yeah... it's - well - you don't have to say thank you..." he murmured clumsily, "But - yeah. I'm happy too..."

He smiled weakly at her.

"Of course. In your girlfriend. It's what girlfriends do." She said as she finished her cup. She looked at him and just found herself getting lost. Maybe the alcohol didn't help, but part of her just wanted to leave and go back to her dorm with him. No would be there. And if there was, she really didn't care anymore. "You're right. I don't have to say thank you." She leaned up to whisper in his ear, "It will be much more fun to show you later on tonight " she kissed right below his ear and giggled softly.

He had a lot of ideas flowing through his mind about what that could be. A promise of his girlfriend, the most popular, prettiest girl in the school... doing something of service to him.

Lien tipped back his cup. He wanted to be in that state right now. He didn't want to have to wait for it.

But, he reminded himself, he had to appease her by putting up with the dance part first...

"We should just... break into the Head Boy's room. Use that." The alcohol felt hot on his breath. "Why not? I've always wanted to sample it. Louis Weasley doesn't deserve it anyway. I do."

Alayna giggled when he tipped his cup back and handed him another one, "Break into the head boys dorm? Tell me more about it. How would we do it." She asked, stroking his arm and sipping the new cup she had gotten herself. "Louis Wesley, huh? You really don't like him. But you're right. You should be head boy."

"That's really quite simple," he said loftily, "I already know the password, I've heard him speak it. And Louis is exactly the type who wouldn't think of changing it too often, as anyone with half a brain would know to. Students here cannot be trusted with such things. He just needs to learn that lesson."

Lien smirked.

"You think so?"

His ego kept getting stroked tonight. At a certain point he was bound to get cocky.

"It's true that I don't like him, but most women cannot understand that."

Alayna was surprised he knew the password for the head boys dorm, "I like this attitude on you. So confident. It's super sexy." She said, purring into his ear. "I definitely think so." She was looking forward to tonight. "Maybe we could skip Pandora's party tonight. Or at least show up late. We could have some alone time first."

"Do you think so?"

He smirked at her. It was all rather sloppy though. It seemed like he thought he was fetching doing it, but it actually looked like a geek trying to look cool.

"I have the most popular, prettiest girl at school. Everyone will think differently of me now. How can I not feel confident about that?"

... Or it could be all the spiked punch he was knocking back.

Alayna smiled and pressed he flips to his in a quick kiss, "I know so." She blushed when he called her the prettiest girl in school. She knew she was, bit it still made her blush, "Well I definitely like it." She was enjoying his new levels of confidence.
