Sure To Catch Your Attention (One-Shot)

Nilson walked through the streets of London, he had still had difficulty believing that he was here now. It was pretty cold around here, it reminded him of Michigan. Of course, there were more sights to see around here. It was also odd that a gang in London invited him into their fold. What was more strange was that it was a special request. Nilson has been on edge since he got here, he was sure that there were some oddballs in this gang. People who knew more than they let on. Too much like his family. Then there was that caller who would explain things. Of course, those things were ridiculous. Tales of mystical beasts, a hero, some kind of dark lords. It was all gibberish, but somehow Nilson had to try and get himself involved. Then there was that off feeling to the man that he was supposed to get involved, but why? He had no idea how to wrap his head around it. He shrugged it off, best not be getting confused before the call. On that thought, Nilson pulled out a piece of paper and checked the time on his watch. He was a little ahead of schedule. He looked to his left and the phone was just there. He walked over and examined it, he still wasn't fully trusting of this caller. He looked beneath, behind, generally all around. He looked around before picking up the phone. He put a coin into the slot and dialed the number on the paper. He waited briefly until they picked up their phone. It was the same anonymous caller. Sounded old, but distorted.

"I see you've made it Nilson," The caller started. "So, have you prepared for another assignment? You'll find you have a number of opportunities this month with the next place. Maybe you'll get lucky this time?"

"It's always luck with me apparently. It's been hard to keep a job since I got here," Nilson responded being sure to keep this vague, "where to next?"

The anonymous one chuckled. "This one is sure to catch your attention," Nilson raised an eyebrow of curiosity now. "have you ever worked with trains before? Specifically in King's Cross Station."

Nilson looked around and let out a sigh. The man had to be crazy, if it were another train station, maybe that'd be possible, but that one? What was going through this guy's head. "Alright, I like trains. I'll give you that, but even that sounds far-fetched to me." There was no way any sane group would try to rob a train station unless they had some balls, and King's Cross was not on anybodies list of safe targets.

The caller laughed after a second taking a moment to regain his composure. "Y-you actually thought this would go that way? Oh no, this is something different, you don't have to worry about that," He debunked Nilson's concerns a bit. "No, I have some operatives of mine scheduled there. They are very... talented people. You'll find you get to learn a thing or two from this experience."

"Alright," Nilson said in a curious manner. "Am I riding a train somewhere?"

"Not on this visit," They were blunt about it, "This is mainly to test a thought I've been having, since I have the personnel for it, not much could go wrong. It'll probably be a lot of improvising work in later stages though."

"Um, could you clarify on any of that?" Nilson blatantly asked as this were an awkward situation.

"Ever hear of station nine and three quarters?"

Nilson's eyes sharpened. "Please tell me it's not some bogus souvenir shop."

"Nope, it's a real place, though hidden."

"I'm pretty sure that's even worse than my original thought."

"And I'm pretty sure I can say no more. You will receive more info at another time."

"Now hold up just one sec-" They already hung up... Nilson let out a sigh. Of course, as soon as things get confusing he hung up again. Then there was only one solution to that problem. Nilson would have to show up at the station and find out for himself when the time came.
